Sympathy Card

For today's card I decided to give the new dsp called Nouveau Chic a try…I was instantly drawn to the colors, but the patterns were a little "out there" for me! I feel like I'm kind of a plain Jane, I wear a polo shirt and shorts or capris every day, with flip flops of course…I very rarely venture out of my comfort zone! My husband and I have a date with my parents for the elegant Cape Code Dinner Train in a couple of weeks and I'm already thinking of what I'll have to get to (lol!) wear!

So that was probably too much information, but I feel like I've got so many friends out there in blogland, it's like chatting over coffee now! Anyway, back to the card…

Here's what I used:
Stamp Sets: Together Forever, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Black StazOn, Sage Shadow, Apricot Appeal, Basic Grey
CS: Sage Shadow, Apricot Appeal, Basic Black, Whisper White
Accessories: Blender Pen, Ticket Corner Punch, Apricot Grosgrain Ribbon, Mini Library Clips, Word Window Punch, Modern Label Punch, Finial Press Embossing Folder, Dimensionals

Here's a tip…I wanted the pattern of the textured paper to line up perfectly, so I adhered them together first…I wasn't sure the texture would do so well on the double-layer portion, and it did!

Thanks for stopping by, and don't forget to enter my Blog Candy Giveaway!

  1. Lovely paper! Such an elegant looking card. Your “train” dinner sounds fun – we all need to get dressed up once in a while – bet you’ll enjoy it!

  2. Very pretty card, I love the double textured area. Into the idea file that goes.
Enjoy your dinner! I know what you mean about polos and flip-flops, but it is fun to be girly and hip once in a while! LOL!

  3. you did very well with this DP but … i am with you in your comments about it. and am also a *plain jane* when it comes to fashion … with me, it is denim denim denim (and some sort of blouse to *go with*). a pretty card though … elegant.
