Stamping 411 Sketch Challenge & Blog Candy Winner

WOW!!! What an unbelievable response we've had to our Blog Candy giveaway this week!!! In case you missed it, each Operator on Stamping 411 had some blog candy to give away, so there were 8 chances to win!!

I would like to thank each and every one of you for sharing your favorite holiday traditions with me 🙂 I thoroughly enjoyed reading all of them, and even got some idea for new traditions we could begin next year! Now for the winner of my A Cute Christmas clear mount stamp set…drum roll please…here is the winning entry:

Kerin – I think my house would probably get a 1 from your boys! My husband thinks that "less is more" when it comes to outdoor decorating, so we just have a wreath with a spotlight on it. He calls it "classy" I call it "boring."
I think one of my favorite traditions has to be "The elf." We have an elf that visits every night in the month of December, leading up to Christmas. He brings candy and notebooks and pencils, and little things, but the kids get so excited to see what he's brought each morning. It makes it a little easier to get my daughter out of bed!
Thanks for the chance to win your cool blog candy – and Merry Christmas!

Congrats Kelley!! Just email me at with your address and I will mail your new stamp set right out!!

Okay, now onto this week's sketch:

And here's my card:

I was going for a vintage look, which I seem to have a hard time with because I'm such a fan of neat, clean lines…but I always love when other people do vintage so I wanted to give this shabby chic look a try.

I started my design by using the new First Edition Specialty DSP which will be available in the Occasions Mini starting the 4th. It's a little bit lighter weight, so I sprayed it with water and crupled it up really small after tearing the edges. Then I flattened it out and sponged a bit of Basic Black and Soft Suede on the edges to give it an aged look.

Then I punched the center Basic Black strip and rubbed it back and forth on the edge of my stamp table to break down the fibers, and I tore it in half so it would be thinner and more distressed looking. For the Baja Breeze Seam Binding Ribbon, I cut the ends and pulled some threads. I stamped my hydrangea in Black StazOn and added Baja Breeze & Always Artichoke with a Blender Pen. A distressed "thank you" and a little flower tag finished this baby off.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you'll play along this week!!

Thanks for playing with the 411 operators …. you all are such creative minds and a “go to” every week when I need some Mojo! Well, at least the kind of Mojo that Starbucks can’t provide, lol!
