Stamping 411 Sketch Challenge & Blog Candy!

I can hardly believe it's Christmas Eve!! Oh how I love to be able to schedule my posts ahead, because as this is posting I'll be having a wonderful time enjoying great food & great company with my family! We've had this tradition forever, the kids in the family receive their gifts from the aunts & uncles, and they pass the time by playing and snacking…my boys are a little old for playing with toys now (15 & 11), but they still love to play with their little cousins, and of course as big as they are (5' 11" & 5' 6" yikes!!), they love to eat!!

Anyway, before I get onto this week's sketch, I wanted to wish you & your family a fun & safe holiday season with lots of fabulous new memories to cherish!

Let's celebrate this joyous occasion with some Blog Candy!!

411_blog_candy-001 To enter to win my blog candy, I'm asking that you comment here with your favorite part of the holidays, or holiday tradition! We enjoyed one of my favorite holiday traditions last night, we've done it ever since I can remember with the boys…we all hop in the car, bring along dinner from some fast food restaurant, and ride around for hours looking for the best Christmas light displays. The boys were especially funny last night, rating each house with 1-10…I was disappointed to find out they ranked our house a 4 because we only have "boring" white lights… especially since they were even giving 1/2 a point for just having the light on by the front door LOL!!! It really made for a fun time, and the boys got so giggly and goofy…I loved every minute of it!! I'm SO looking forward to hearing your favorite part of the holidays or tradition!!

Here's my candy:

Christmas-candy

It's a brand new unopened A Cute Christmas clear mount stamp set ๐Ÿ™‚ I hope you like it, and good luck!!

Now, onto the sketch:

SSC183
And here's my card:

SSC183Kerin
I used the Elements of Style set, stamped in Black StazOn on Whisper White card stock. For the bottom layer I stamped it full strength, and for the top layer I stamped it off first to make it lighter. Then I added a bit of color with a Blender Pen and Pretty in Pink and Pear Pizzazz ink. I added some Basics Pearls and Pretty in Pink Satin Ribbon, along with Pretty in Pink & Basic Black card stock.

I hope you'll find time to check out the other Operators' creations, enter for blog candy, and play along with our sketch challenge this week!! We love to see your creations!

  1. Wow! This card is stunning, Kerin! I am so itching to get creative again … after so many Christmas projects!
My favourite part of Christmas is the Christmas Eve sleep-over (married daughter & son-i-l come home to stay)… where we just have our own family … 7 of us + s-i-l + daughter no. 2’s boyfriend. We do a chocolate fondue … and cheese platter … watch the carols on TV … play cards … cruise around looking at Christmas lights, too! It is lovely, special family time before all the noise & hustle and bustle of the wider family celebrations on Christmas & Boxing Day!

  2. Absolutely gorgeous card! My favorite family tradition is getting up and watching my daughter open her gifts! Then we go to my parents house and open gifts and eat all day!!

  3. My favorite part of the holiday is going over to my daughter and son-in-law’s home to watch our grandchildren open their gifts! We then have a big brunch, play with the grandkids (and their new toys), and eat a delicious dinner! Can’t wait!

  4. I have the stamp and love it!! You did a great job with the coloring. Beautiful!
Usually we go to our son and his wife and grandsons and attend Christmas Eve services. (2 1/2 hour away)But we have had a big snow storm today and the roads are a mess so we are home alone. Not to worry, we are warm, tummies full and we have each other!

  5. Family is the best part of the holiday. Just spending time with family. We now have little ones in the family and seeing everything new through their eyes is amazing and brings you back to such wonderful memories. Of course the excitement on their face is priceless. Thank you for sharing your work. Your cards are amazing!!! I love the colors you used on this one.

  6. Oh….VERY pretty!!! I love the design of this card!!! I’m stuck at home sick tonight, so I love looking at all the beautiful cards the Stamping 411 operators are making! Merry Christmas!!

  7. Beautiful card Kerin! I love everything about Christmas! My favorite tradition, however, is my hubby donning the suit Christmas morning and making the rounds in the neighborhood. It brings such joy to the children and they talk about their personal visit from Santa for days!! Plus, I get to kiss Santa EVERY year!

  8. I’m spending Christmas day at work at the retirement home with all the residents. I have family of my own but some of the older people have no family at all and were the only family some of them have. And my family understands thats where I want to be for Christmas day.
And it warms my heart to make there Christmas very special. Just to see a smile on there face is the best Christmas present I could ever want.

  9. Love the elegance of this stunning card Kerin. Had me thinking Audrey Hepburn for some reason. Haven’t had any specific holiday traditions other than Midnight Mass when possible for some years since its now just me and my cat. But when my husband was alive we went to Midnight Mass then drove out to the ocean and sat and watched the starlight on the waves and went home to open a gift and sing some carols with the cats then slept a bit and headed out to celebrate with family after morning services. So many years ago but still wonderful memories. No longer live by the ocean but I still sing carols with the cats though and look forward to phone calls with far away family on Christmas day.

  10. Favorite tradition is decorating the tree. Love getting all the ornaments out with memories of where they came from.
Love your blog, thank you for sharing all your creative ideas!

  11. The combos you used in this card are many and they all blend to make a simply elegant card! Wow!! Favorite part of Christmas, since our children are grown and don’t live nearby, is a new one we started recently. One is that we enjoy it with our 2 yr old furbaby, and the other started when my hubby used to work for Aflac. They put out a Christmas Aflac duck every Christmas and the proceeds from the sale of plush Aflac ducks go to the children’s Aflac Cancer Center and Blood Disorders Service. So we had to get the whole collection and of course, get the new one every year! They take up 2 shelves now lol. You can see their pics on my blog at: http://doggandponyshow.blogspot.com/2010/12/merry-christmas-to-you-from-our-aflac.html
And I am started a new Christmas tradition this year with my family, who don’t live nearby either (we are on the west coast and my family lives on the east coast – snow!) I made up calendar bookmarks to put into the Christmas cards I sent (also made them) to them – to let them know I think about them every day and hope they will think about us when they use it!

  12. Your card is beautiful. Love the colors. My favorite part of Christmas is remembering it is our Savior’s birth, and then having all our family come over Christmas day for a big dinner. Lots of fun times with family. Have a Blessed Christmas.

  13. What a beautiful card! The best thing about the holidays is having family and friends around – they are my most precious gifts! Aloha and Merry Christmas!
    Toots

  14. Love your card, Kerin — it’s a classic! As for my favorite Christmas traditions, it’s just spending time with family and friends! Blessings to you and yours this Christmas! — Gretchen

  15. So soft and gorgeous! TFS! My favorite holiday tradition is probably my Christmas tree. It’s huge and it takes me a good part of a day to get it up but I sure love looking at all my beautiful ornaments and treasures from loved ones all season long.

  16. My favorite Christmas tradition is baking holiday cookies. On Christmas Eve we always have a traditional family dinner… wedding soup, lasagna and ravioli, salad, bread, and platters of holiday cookies. It takes a lot of cookies to satisfy all of the 30 or so family members who gather for Christmas Eve dinner. Everyone likes my decorated cut out cookies. My children are grown, but they all say it wouldn’t be Christmas without my cookies.

  17. Our family tradition being with family, getting together and having ethnic foods pasted on from from family to family. We start out thanking God for coming into our lives, thanking Him for our food. We open gifts from each other, then sing Christmas Carols. Last is having a wonderful dessert. We take many pictures for all the memories of each year.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful card.

  18. We LOVE to drive around and check out the lights as well, I enjoy hearing my six and half years old daughter “woo” & “ahh”, “look, a hippo”,”Oh, that’s so cute”….it just reminds me how simply thing can easily make someone happy!
Although yours sound very fun -maybe we will do the rating sometime in the future!
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

  19. Your card is striking! It is so pretty.
One of our holiday traditions is to always have a little gift (always includes a scratch ticket & chocolate) at each person’s place at the dinner table.
    Merry Christmas!

  20. Your card is a WOW!!! I love it and have been trying to work with this set but never seeing on paper what my imagination saw.
We usually make a small dinner and watch It’s a Wonderful Life. At midnight we open a small gift.
    Merry Christmas
    Rose Ann Marr

  21. Great beautiful card love the colors used the card if very pretty.
Our Christmas is quiet the kids all live far away so it’s mostly talking on the phone, my parents have passed on so it’s just my hubby and our two sweet dogs and probably get some crafting in and a movie or two. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family.

  22. Stunning card!! I loved your story too about the drive to see the lights. We used to go to BLORA which is a park sort of run by the military post here (Ft Hood). They do an amazing light display that you drive through each year, but we haven’t done it the last few years, it’s been too cold for me to get out in it. We are going to watch White Christmas in a bit, but I really wish we had a really good story of the Nativity to watch.

  23. Since my children were very little they have always looked forward to all of the Christmas candies and goodies I make each year. There are a few special recipes that I only make at Christmas. I was thrilled this Christmas when both boys (now in college) wanted to help me prepare them. They each told me that they want to know how I make their favorites. Maybe the tradition will live on. — Merry Christmas

  24. I was just thinking today I haven’t utlized this stamp set sufficiently since I got it, and you’ve provided some wonderful inspiration with this amazingly beautiful card!!

  25. The best part of this Christmas is having my daughter reasonably well this year!
Thanks for the chance at blog candy!
    GeryB

  26. I love your card. I need to use that stamp set more often. My favorite thing to do at Christmas is to make my Giant Cinnamon Rolls. That’s all my son Michael wants. It’s the only time I make them now, so they’re real special. I also love making gingerbread men with my granddaughters. Big mess, lots of fun. Thanks for a chance to win some wonderful candy.
    Merry Christmas,
    Babe

  27. Love your cards and blog! Our favorite tradition is going to church on Christmas Eve, then driving through the lights display and coming home to have Angel Food cake made for Jesus’ birthday.

  28. Let me first say, that I just love your cards! You always have a fun twist to them (non-traditional colors, creative twist to the sketch, etc.)
My favorite holiday tradition: the weekend after Thanksgiving, we decorate the Christmas tree. Its a family event. The kids and grandkids all have ‘their’ ornaments that they put on the tree. And yes, I don’t move their ornaments once they have them where they want them. We spend the whole day decorating, laughing and have a home cooking lunch. Its not much, but I think the kids (and grandkids) can look back at this holiday and know that its more than gifts they open.
And I understand about your ‘hurt’ feelings of only receiving a 4 on your house. Kids can be brutally honest, huh? Merry Christmas!

  29. I really enjoy visiting your blog and seeing your creative designs. We share a similar tradition. My husband and I always pick an evening, usually Christmas Eve, and go out and check out the lights. It is really special this year because both sons are home at the same time. Went out to dinner and drove around checking out lights. They are adults now but thankfully don’t lose their holiday fun side. They too were ranking the displays. Enjoyed every moment.

  30. Merry Christmas. I thought I would be enjoying one of our traditions right now, everyone up early, still in pj’s ripping open presents, but I’m the only one up!!!!! Don’t they know Santa was here with some gifts!!!!!!! Teenagers!
Anyway, your card is stunning. Love the black and white with a few touches of color. And your ribbon is absolutely beautiful.
    Happy Holidays.

  31. Your card is breathtaking! Thank you for sharing your art with the blog world. My favorite tradition is basking under the lights of the Christmas tree.

  32. One of our favorite Christmas traditions is to play an exchange gift game. Each person contributes a wrapped gift and chooses a number. You may choose a gift from the pile or “steal” an already revealed gift chosen by someone who went before you. If someone steals your gift you get to choose again. You may not take the gift just taken from you. Each gift may have 3 “owners” before it is off limits. Lots of fun and laughs— especially with lots of people.

  33. Thanks for sharing your card..and speaking of sharing, I guess my favorite part of the Christmas season is the gifting. Big…and small…thinking of others and what they might like to receive is one of my favorite things! I love to see people smile.

  34. Lovely card. I hope to make one like it soon myself. A favorite tradition in our family is to guess which package is a decoy. There is always one that has a note telling the recipient where to look for the real thing. Fun to try and disguise that gift without being obvious or repeating something already done. Thanks for sharing. jmniffer

  35. One of my favorite parts of Christmas actually starts in early December every year. A group of family and friends have been getting together for a progressive dinner for 24 years now. We move the location and each family gets the opportunity to prepare for the rest of us.
It is wonderful to see how the kids have grown and want to join us every year. 2011 will be our 25th, and plans are being made already.

  36. Kerin – I think my house would probably get a 1 from your boys! My husband thinks that “less is more” when it comes to outdoor decorating, so we just have a wreath with a spotlight on it. He calls it “classy” I call it “boring.”
I think one of my favorite traditions has to be “The elf.” We have an elf that visits every night in the month of December, leading up to Christmas. He brings candy and notebooks and pencils, and little things, but the kids get so excited to see what he’s brought each morning. It makes it a little easier to get my daughter out of bed!
Thanks for the chance to win your cool blog candy – and Merry Christmas!

  37. Kerin,
I love this stamp set. Thank you for the variation in using color. I have only thought of this set in vanilla, crumb cake, and early expresso. What a challenge for me to see this set used in different colors – and I love it. Will definitely case this.
    Thanks!!

  38. We would have gotten one point since we also had the walkway lights on. LOL
My favorite tradition is to go go church on Christmas Eve then come home and have snacks… like my mom’s cheese ball recipe, shrimp, and other snicky snacks as we call them. Merry Christmas everyone.

  39. Your card is incredible! my favorite tradition is baking cookies with my mom. Enjoy the season! and thanks for your inspiration.
    Kathy S.

  40. Kerin;
What an absolutely beautiful job you did on this card! WOW! I’m going to try casing it (I’ll leave a trackback to your site so you get credit for the original). We’ll see how things go!
    WOW! Stunning!

  41. I just love the stamps set you used. it is one of my favorites. Our family tradition is that we take the kids to grandmas house and she lets them decorate her tree. The girls just love it.

  42. Beautiful card! WOW! I love this stamp set!
I love the gathering that happens on Christmas eve…family comes together and we just have fun! A lot of food, laughter, and white elephant bidding!
    Merry Christmas. Kt

  43. WOW beautiful card!!! I have this stamp set but haven’t really used it. Thank you for some inspiration. My favorite thing about Christmas is having all my kids home and together. One of my son’s in the Marine Corps and when he is able to be home with us it is always special.

  44. I love buying and seeing my kids open their stocking gifts. I love finding inexpensive gifts they aren’t expecting, but would think are fun.

  45. I just love your card. What great fun it sounds like you had looking at all the lights. I would love to win the blog candy.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

  46. We have a couple traditions.. the first is Starting the season with a Cookie Decorating party..good wine, friends and daughters. It’s a day where we just have fun together..and spend time before the craziness begins. We also have a new years tradition. for the past 28 years we ring in the new year with Root Beer Floats in special Dad’s root beer antique mugs..

  47. We, too, have a tradition of viewing Christmas lights. We stop at McDonald’s first for an egg nog milkshake to enjoy while we see the lights. Merry Christmas.

  48. I enjoy Dec. 26. In Nova Scotia the stores are closed, the cooking and cleaning is done, we can just lay back and relax and eat hot turkey sandwiches. It is my favourite day of the year.

  49. My favorite tradition is a little bit of me time. On Christmas Eve, I get some hot chocolate and turn off all the lights except the tree. Then I count my blessings and try to appreciate how lucky I am!

  50. Kerin- I love your card and the inspiration that I get from the scetch team. My favorite holiday tradition is that on Christmas Eve we all gather and just have snacky foods we all love!! Grazing all night! Thanks for the opportunity to win blog candy and Merry Christmas to you and your family! Lori

  51. Love your card.
My favorite tradition is that I do not cook Christmas dinner. I stopped doing that about 16 or 17 years ago, when my grown up children started getting married and had to choose which side they should go to for dinner. I took the stress of that away by not cooking and they are free to spend the time with inlaws. We do get together in the morning for gift opening and everyone brings appies. sometime over the holidays, we all get together and I do prepare a huge meal. No turkey though. Usually, something very non Christmasy. One year it was Chinese food, one year, Greek and even one year we had homemade Pizza. this year it will be seafood.
    Thanks for offering blog candy.

  52. Favorite part of the holidays? I don’t allow any “I should be …” on Christmas day! Don’t you just LOVE this stamp set?
    d

  53. My favorite tradition is going to church on Christmas eve for the candlelight service. What a gift it is to escape for a little while from the holiday hoopla and focus on the true gift of Christmas.
thanks for sharing all your wonderful talents and the opportunity to win blog candy!
    martha L.

  54. Thanks for sharing your tradition with us- sounds like you had a great time, even though you only ranked a 4- we only have a little tree, a snowman, and a lonely reindeer in our front yard, so we would have scored lower than you.
As far as a tradition, we don’t REALLY have a special one anymore, But when we were younger, everyone got to open one present before going to bed. One year, our mom opened her gift and it was a single slipper-she had to wait until morning to get her other slipper, of course, not knowing which package it was, that was part of the fun ๐Ÿ™‚
Merry Christmas to you and your family.

  55. I love this card and wanted to add my traditions. When I was growing up we got to open one gift on Christmas Eve. We also had one gag gift under the tree as well so we had to really pick carefully. One year I wanted a charm bracelet so bad and I just knew what package it was. It was the right size and rattled just like it was supposed to!! When it was my time to pick that one was the one I grabbed knowing that I was going to have the best one of the night. Low and behold it was a potato pealer. LOL I did get my charm braclet but not until Christmas day!
    Sherri Power

  56. I really think your card is beautiful Kerin, thanks for inspiring us all year.
My favourite tradition is our advent reading.
I get 24 christmas books (some are ours and some are from the library) and wrap them in christmas paper, each night of advent my girls unwrap a “book, present” and that’s our bedtime story. We all love doing it and its so much nicer than the choc advents most of their friends do.
I hope you had a lovely Christmas day with your family.
    Kathy

  57. Merry Christmas, Kerin! We, too, enjoy checking out the Christmas light displays. In fact, we usually start making our rounds on Thanksgiving Day evening. It is so much fun! Another thing we do is get new pajamas every year. The kids really look forward to this…I’m so glad they are happy with the little things still! We also “open our stockings” as my three year old says. Christmas truly is the most wonderful time of the year!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  58. Our family tradition is to have a family potluck dinner with all my Daughters & Grandchildren. Eat, exchange gifts, lots of laughter & watch a Christmas movie.

  59. I really like the soft contrast of the black, white and pinks in this card…so pretty. thank you for the inspiration throughout the past year and blessing for creative times in the coming year.

  60. We started doing Santa’s presents on Christmas Eve when our youngest was 2yrs old. Then Christmas Morning we packed up and drove to our Parents’s house, by Santa arriving the night before everything went without a glitch the next morning. Kids have all grown to adults but we still do Santa on Christmas Eve. I’m so glad I don’t have to wait till Christmas Morn, I’m the biggest kid of them all! Love how you did the pink and black on this card, so subtle.

  61. My favourite tradition is getting up on Christmas morning and getting to eat Christmas treats and cookies for breakfast.

  62. Kerin, your card is so elegant! It is definitely one to be cased! When my children were little, we had a Santa bag that was hidden out on our front porch. On Christmas night, after all of the gifts were opened and the days festivities were over, we would send one of the kids out to the porch to get something, and they would discover the Santa bag. It had gifts with no name tags, but one for each person in the house. We would all pick one and unwrap the gifts that Santa had accidentally left behind, and then trade until everyone had what was appropriate for them! It was so much fun! I can’t wait to start the tradition with my grandchildren!

  63. Your card is gorgeous. Thanks for sharing! My favorite time is after all the hub bub is over and you can just relax and reflect on the year. That is when I am truly grateful! Thanks for the chance to win.

  64. Thanks for the chance to win. One of my favorite times is the traditional Christmas picture after all the presents are opened.

  65. Thanks for a chance to win. My favorite tradition is the traditional family picture after the presents have been opened.

  66. Thanks for the opportunity!! My favorite tradition is going to Christmas Eve service, and driving around to see the Christmas lights afterwards. Upon arriving home, another tradition is opening one gift.

  67. A very beautiful card. Very elegant! Thank you for sharing your talent & projects, looking forward to more in the new year!

  68. A lot has changed since our child has grown up and started her own family. One thing we continue to do is have some small stocking gift to open on the Eve of St. Nicholas.

  69. My favorite part of the holidays is the colors. You have the reds and greens, and the whites if you live in the part of the country where you get white christmas every year.
Thanks for a chance to win this great set.

  70. A very beautiful card. I like the subtle colors. Our Christmas Eve tradition is fondue for dinner, riding around looking at the lighting contest winners, then going to church for a beautiful candlelight service.

  71. Love the eleganc-y of your card…so pretty! Our Christmas Eve tradition is to cook a Prime Rib, enjoy all the good eats that go with it, and then open presents. Thank you for sharing all of your wonderful creations throughout the year! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

  72. My favorite time at Christmas is family getting together and decorating the tree and looking at all the beautiful xmas lights and singing xmas carols.

  73. Karen, I love how you made your own background paper for this card and the pink added to it is such a soft touch. My kids are grown, our Christmas tradition is going to eat Chinese after opening presents, it’s no fuss/no muss and relaxing.

  74. What a lovely feminine card. So pretty.
Our tradition started out just as an add-on to our children’s gifts–socks. When they were little, those socks were probably the least-loved gift, but we’ve continued to give socks over the years. Fast forward to their adulthood: We don’t give as many gifts anymore. We trade names among us, but we still make sure everyone gets their annual socks. Funny, now those socks are the most looked-forward to, most appreciated gifts every year.

  75. Love your cards!!! Holidays are for spending time with your family and that’s what I love best – wish we had more holidays to spend together!!

  76. Merry Christmas Kerin, This card brings back memories of my grandma and the beauty she shared with everyone. Hope your Christmas was blessed and happy and your new year is healthy and prosperous!

  77. Hi Kerin!
I love, love, love your card. This is one of my all-time favorite Stampin’ Up stamp sets. I love the pink and black together. You ask for our family tradition. Basically we are going on our fifth generation of all the family getting together on Christmas day to celebrate the birth of our Lord, eat, and play games. We include everybody in the games so that means a lot of charade-type games. I love it because all of our large family is so close and so caring of each other. And if the weather permits, we also include sledding of course!! Thank you for asking.
    Sandi Dailey
    gdailey@concentric.net

  78. Oops! I forgot our new tradition, started in 2008, Christmas Breakfast with Little Grandma. Everyone comes over here in pajamas and they all get to help me fix Christmas breakfast for us to enjoy together. Then we sit around taking turns with presents and we have Veggie Tales Christmas movies going for the kids. This has been much easier and stress free than years past.

  79. Next to my grandchildren, my Favorite part of Christmas is gathering with family and friends and playing games. So fun to see everyone together laughing and having a good time, and not worry work the next day.

  80. Beautiful card!!! LOVE the pink and black! My favorite tradition is hanging out with the family on Christmas morning…and day in our p.j.’s!!!

  81. this is the first visit I’v e made to your blog…love your card pink and black one of my favorite combos- now for the candy question…my favorite tradition is when we go Christmas tree hunting with friends, when we find our tree my husband cuts it down while I get pictures of his back side while he does it…it started out as an innocent picture on my part some 25 years ago but it made people laugh so now it is tradition..Ray’s backside while cutting the tree-Merry Christmas and HAppy New Year

  82. My favorite holiday tradition is picking out a new ornament for our Christmas tree. My husband and I have been doing it since we started dating and it’s always fun to go back and look at the ornament. My husband just went through all 5 of them with our 4 month old daughter. The tour ended with him telling her about her ornament that were added to the tree for her this year. =) Melts my heart!
I love all of your ideas on your blog! Keep them coming!

  83. Merry Christmas Kerin. Thank you for sharing this most elegant card, I hope that you don’t mind that it WILL be “cased”. I am sure I am not the only one who will be making this example. It is gorgeous!
Our Christmas tradition for as long as I can remember, and I am 61 yrs old, is just before Christmas day the ladies,(moms, sisters and friends).. all get together and make treats and goodies for all of those people who do daily tasks for us during the year. The postal workers, UPS man, Office supply and of course our church charity, and others.
We laugh, get messy, and enjoy the joy of friendship and sharing. It is a total feel good day. We are blessed to be able to do this for others.
Thank you for sharing….you are so talented..God Bless and Happy Holidays!!!

  84. I don’t know if we have what you’d call a “tradition” other than our whole family gets together and spend an entire day…sharing gifts, eating too much food, laughing together, playing games (we do love to play board games-and usually get at least one new one each Christmas)and just plain “being the crazy family that we are”. But the BEST part is that EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US truly CELEBRATE JESUS!!! Aren’t you glad he came!?

  85. My family eats Danish rice pudding after Christmas dinner; this really rice mixed with whipped cream topped with a cherry sauce. There is a single whole almond in the big bowl–whoever finds the almond wins a prize. Yummy!!

  86. I love your card and will make one for myself. Love the soft pink and green on your card. My favorite family tradition was to get together and walk down Candy Cane Lane together and mingle with the neighbors while we stroll down the street looking at all the houses decorated. Once house always plays Christmas Carols that can be heard up and down the street. We always carry a large thermos of hot chocolate and just enjoy the activity. Thank you for sharing your time and talent with us. Happy 2011.

  87. I just love your card made with the Elements of Style stamp set. With everyone grown and with kids of thier own we have Christmas on Christmas Eve, dinner and then opening presents. Then Christmas for me is relaxing for them the Christmas rush going to all those Grandmas.

  88. My favorite holiday tradition is picking out an ornament for my two boys. Every year since they were born I purchase an ornament, and it must have something signfigant to them in that year!!! Then I put the date on the bottom. This way when they grow (sniff sniff) and leave home they will take their shoebox of oraments ๐Ÿ™‚
    Thank you for you creations.
    Kealey

  89. Your card is gorgeous. I love the colors. One of my favorite Christmas traditions is making sugar cookies with my grandchildren, which was started by my grandmother.

  90. The best part of Christmas is the time with familly and friends. I am so thankful we can have time together and share good times. Thanks for offering blog candy.

  91. We get a new game each year. My favorite part of Christmas is playing board games with my husband and boys.
Great Card. Thanks for the inspiration

  92. Love the softness and subtle beauty of this card. Hard to name one thing I love about Christmas so will share a couple favorites. Besides spending time with family and friends, I love the holiday lights, Christmas candies and cookies and the packed house at church with singing of Christmas carols and bell ringing. Traditions are forever!
Hope you had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you also!

  93. My tradition is gingerbread pancakes with whipped cream on Christmas morning. So good, I don’t know why I don’t make them all year long!

  94. Merry Christmas Kerin
This card is fabulous!! I have tried to layer the design without the same results, just beautiful. We are far away from our family and long time friends so our Christmas traditions are small, we love to get up Christmas morning, open gifts and then go to the early movie.
    Have a wonderful New Year.
    Rose Ann

  95. What a beautiful card! I really like the pink/black combo & the graceful way you made the flower design.
Favorite part of the holidays: having friends at our home here, since our family is far away & scattered.

  96. What a beautiful card! It would make a great “thank you” card for all the holiday gifts too.
I was able to do a favorite tradition this year that I haven’t been able to do for a couple years. I baked cookies, lots of cookies. I used several of the recipes from my granmother’s cookbook,(my Grandmother passed away in September), and shared them with family members. It was a great way to remember her (and the memory of all those great cookies she used to make) with friends and family.

  97. Love the card. and thankyou so much for sharing. Looking to get to that point, this is inspiration.
Our new Christmas tradition is for my older son to old Christmas, Mom be spoiled and not do anything but have a good time. Gives me so much more time to spend with the grandchildren and family. Actually he and his two children do the work, the cooking and I of cour who are adults now do the work, actual meal, and my contributionn is continuing the baking of goodies that have been on the table for the last 40+ years. Gotta love it.

  98. wooops, must have skimmed over the pad on here which is touchy. Meant the grandchilden who are adults now, and that I do bake goodies that have also been a tradition for the last 40+ years. Sorry i did not notice that before posting.

  99. Love your card1 Thanks for sharing. Our family tradition is bake a lot of goodies like cake balls w/the kids and have dinner after going to church. thanks…..gina f

  100. Kerin- this card is gorgeous! At first I thought you had used vellum on the center panel- great idea with the stamp off technique! Thanks again for all of your wonderful inspiration throughout the year!

  101. Kerin- I was so impressed with your card, I did not comment on our favorite tradition at Christmas:-) Our family traditions have changed over the years as parents pass away and children grow up and move away, but my husband and I love to go to the Christmas Eve candlelight service each year. It always blesses us with the reflection on Christ’s birth and the true reason for the season! I hope you had a beautiful Christmas and that you enjoy the New Year!

  102. ms kerin , thank you for sharing your most beautiful work, you inspire me always.
happy new years to you and your’s.
    hug’s frenchie hum.

  103. Your card is beautiful!
Baking christmas cookies together is one of my favorite traditions – the whole family gets together, and we each get to pick one recipe to make and split between us all. It’s quite chaotic, but a lot of fun and yummy stuff!

  104. There are about 4 blocks that have house to house decorations whole blocks are designated for this special event. Every year we go there and see all the festivities, decorations and street parties. This year it was raining but the festivities were still going on people still walking the streets going into peoples garages eating and getting warm by the fires. This is always a highlight of the Holiday Season for us! Happy New Year!

  105. Hi Kerin,
My favorite Christmas tradition begins in September when practice for our Christmas Concert starts. I sing in a community chorale and love the fellowship, the music and the atmosphere of preparing for the performance!

  106. Kerin – I love the beautiful card with the black and pink color combination. I’ll have to try that. My favorite tradition is to do a “round robin” with my family on Christmas day. We start at one house and have appetizers and visit and exchange gifts, then go to another house and do it all over again. We go to 3 houses each year. It’s a lot of fun and lasts for a good part of the day.

  107. Beautiful and elegant card! Makes me think of a tea party. We have the same tradition in our family – we have my parents and in-laws over. The kids get their presents from them and play – my kids are 10, 6, & 4, so they definitely play. ๐Ÿ™‚ Hope you had a wonderful time with your family!

  108. Just beautiful Kerin!!! I just love your style. It’s so classic and elegant. I’m so happy to have worked with you this past year as well. Now we just really need to meet. Hope that’s soon.
Hugs and the best to you this year!!!

  109. LOVE your inspiration and beautiful creations. I had one of my magical Christmas moments reading “The Grench That Stole Christmas” to different classrooms at our elementary school…you know…CHRISTmas really does come from the heart, not a bow or a box… Blessings to everyone and Thank you God for sending our Savior and hence our “season” to celebrate His birth. Blessings to everyone and their families.

  110. Beautiful card! The best part of Christmas for me is decorating the tree with my two boys and being able to be with friends and family. I makes me take a step back and be thankful for them in my life!

  111. Wow! This is gorgeous! Love the pretty softness. This stamp set has the perfect name, doesn’t it!?
The most special part of Christmas is family! I get this warm glow … when I have all my kids around and we are just enjoying each other’s company! I just smile and watch and enjoy! Hugs xxaxx
PS You asked for a comment … and you got over 150!!! I wonder if you will read down to mine … at the bottom of the list!!! giggle!!! Hugs xxaxx

  112. Hi Kerin,
Love that pretty card! The colours are perfect together! One meaningful holiday tradition is my sister and I reading “Twas the Night Before Christmas” together and listening to Christmas carols on Christmas Eve on the radio. We would lay there for hours, waiting for Santa and whispering about our hopes for Christmas morning. It was a special time. Since we are both in our own homes now, this proves to be diffcult to do but it really was a big part of my christmas memory that I will cherish always.
    Smiles,
    Lesley

  113. Kerin, I just love the color combo with your card. I’m not much of a pink person, but LOVED your card. Thanks for sharing with us. As for a Christmas tradition…..I think one of recent years would be that I’ve been reading an advent story to my kids every night. There are a few in the series, the first, Jotham’s Journey. It’s quite a commitment, but it helps to remember, on a daily basis, the reason for the season.

  114. Hi, Kerin. I check your blog regularly for inspiration. You do such beautiful work. My favorite Christmas tradition is Christmas morning breakfast at our house. It’s a lot of work, but so worth it to have all the family together. Sausage gravy biscuits are always the highlight of the menu. I hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!

  115. Wow! I love your card! The layout is great and I love your ribbon treatment! Thanks for sharing and for the chance to win this awesome blog candy.
My favorite part of Christmas is listening to my mother (78 years old now) read the Christmas story from the book of Luke in the Bible before we open presents. So sweet!
    Inky hugs,

  116. Love the soft, warm feeling of your beautiful card. My favorite Christmas tradition is decorating our tree with all the handmade ornaments our children made years ago and now all those made by our grandchildren. The wonderful memories are the best Christmas gift of all times. Nothing else is needed for me.
    Love your designs!!

  117. Without a doubt my favorite thing to do is decorate gingerbread houses at the holidays with my little one. The house we made this year, just about fell apart. Every time I walked by it in the kitchen, I would chuckle a bit. there was a gap the size of a quarter in the top…. but it didnt matter.. We spend 3 hours decorating it. it’s not about the finished product… it’s just that we took the time together to do it. ๐Ÿ˜€ I’m so very thankful for your friendship and for the operators in general.
We are a really awesome team.

  118. Beautiful card. Well hoping to start some new traditions now that I have a grandchild. Also since my daughter got married last year she has been doing Christmas dinner. I am continuing to do Christmas Eve. Happy Holidays. Karen

  119. Very elegant card. My favorite tradition is after all the gifts are unwrapped we sit around for hours enjoying whatever was given. Last year we played my sons new Wii game and this year we watched several movies.

  120. I LOVE the set you’re offering as candy! I’d be thrilled to win it!
My Christmas tradition is baking. I make 4 or 5 kinds of cookies that everybody really likes. On Christmas Eve my hubby and I go out to a few neighbors and friends houses and deliver them.

  121. Beautiful card…one of my favorite stamp sets..Wow, traditions… we have so many. But I think I will say Three Kings Day. We celebrate it on the 6th but now that the kids are a little older they all sleep at my MIL’s house and they decorate shoe boxes and put grass inside for the camels. The read the Story of the Three Kings as well…Then when they go to bed we discard the grass and put goodies inside the box…the LOVE IT!

  122. Your card is gorgeous! One tradition we do is whatever day we decide to open presents, we read the Christmas story. I always enjoy that!

  123. absolutley love this set and what you have done with it so elegant… my favorite Christmas tradition is when all of the family (all) makes a circle that ends up through the kitchen dining room living room and back around to give Thanks to our creator…

  124. Beautiful card! My favorite tradition has always been going to my parents’ home Christmas day for lunch; I have 3 brothers and 1 sister and we all have kids and they have kids so the house is full of excitement. Love it, love it.

  125. Kerin, What a beautiful card! My favorite part of the holiday season is spending time with family that I seldom get to see….it’s actually a joyful, but bittersweet time since it always seems to end too soon. Thanks for sharing your lovely work!

  126. Gorgeous card – love those colors!! My favorite part of the holidays (besides the food) is getting to be with all of the kids. Several live in other states, but all come home for a few days during the holidays.

  127. Several years ago one of my neices started a NEW tradition. The decendants of my mother meet at her housr for a pot luck and white elephant exchange. The exchange includes the ability to steal from one another up to 3 times rather than select a gift from under the tree. There have been contests over the year on bringing the goofyest gift, the nicest, having the most gifts stolen from a person (my youngest sister did that this year. No mater what gift she selected-it was stolen & she’d have to pick another) Some years we would have special guests. Last yr another’s in-laws from France. This yr they schedulted it so my daughter, gchildren & I could make one trip as my father-in-law’s 100th BD party was the day before!

  128. Ahh, your card is gorgeous! My favorite part of the holiday season is spending so much relaxing time with my family! My husband and kids are always off of school/work, so we just chill and have fun! Thanks for the great blog candy. Have a Happy New Year!

  129. So, so pretty, Kerin. I just found the 411 site and your blog today and have spent the entire morning looking and learning and drooling, too! My favorite holiday tradition is attending the Christmas Eve service. I’m the organist and it’s my favorite service of the year. Happy New Year!!

  130. Hi Sonya,
I know it sounds crazy, but I think one of the things that I love about the holidays, is the time when we are out in all the craziness on Black Friday…after spending hours going through the ads and making a list of who were buying for and where we’ve got to go to get those deals, it just seems to be the true start of the crazy season for us. Thanks for the opportunity to possibly win your blog candy.
    Happy Holidays,
    Nanc

  131. Your card is so delicate! I love the pink and round punched detail! My favourite Christmas tradition is the Christmas Eve service at Church – actually all the celebrations we have getting ready for the Christmas days-it’s so great to take time to be together with family and special friends- Blessings to you and your family!

  132. My favorite holiday tradition is to just explore all of the holiday things going on in New Orleans. From the hourly snowfall on Fulton Street, to the lobby of the Roosevelt Hotel, to Celebration in the Oaks at City Park. We spend our weekends between Thanksgiving and Christmas exploring.

  133. Love the card, it looks so feminine and soft.
We have a couple of different traditions in our family. One would be making pecan tarts, my family has to have them every Christmas and another would be getting a new ornament for each child every year so that when they are grown, they will have a start to decorating their own tree.

  134. Really love this card. I wasn’t crazy about the set, but all the cards and projects I have seen with it are stunning.
Matching family Christmas PJ’s are my favorite part of Christmas. I have gone from buying 3 pairs to now getting 12! With sizes ranging from 2T to 2xlg it gets harder each year!
    Good luck to all!!

  135. My favorite part of the holidays is making coookies with my boys(6 and 3) and listening to Christmas carols while we bake. I love your designs!

  136. Christmas Eve dinner at my house where teh family opens gifts, followed by Santa in the morning with Christmas brunch- after which I am done, then I get to enjoy Christmas dinner at my parents home. I also make butterscotch cookies with chinese noodles and peanuts. Fifty percent of the time the butterscotch does not melt right- but this year with the time crunch on Christmas Eve afternoon they were perfect. love your card. Donna Thames

  137. Love your card it is very elegant looking. Our only tradition is opening up 1 present on Christmas eve, which is usually (SOMEHOW) the ornament that I buy for my Daughter every year. She opens it and It gets put on the tree so that it will help bring Santa to our house safe and sound. Then we watch whatever Christmas special that is on and eat take out.. Relaxing and loving.

  138. I love, love, love your card. Our holiday tradition is to open one present each on christmas eve, except this year that tradition was broken things are just too tight this holiday season and we decided to wait and open everything on christmas. It’s a little sad to break the tradition, but all is well, we are happy and healthy. Your candy is awesome. Happy New Year!

  139. Thanks for the chance to win a great stamp set. Your card is beautiful! One of our family traditions is that New Year’s Day is junk food day. Everyone in the house can eat what they want, whenever they want! Love It!
