Snowglobe Ornament

Snowglobe

So this morning I woke up at 5:45 thinking of what I could put in the Sweet Treat Cups…can you believe that's what I wake up to? My goodness, I knew I had to go back to work today and I had my alarm set, but not for THAT early…maybe subconsciously I knew I wasn't going to have much time for stamping today?

Anyway, I'm so happy that this is what I woke up to, because by 7 am I had made this card and I think it's pretty cute if I do say so myself! I've got another picture below to show you what it looks like when you shake it up (it's actually very sparkly in real life):

So here's what I did…I placed my cup upside down, and sprinkled in some Dazzling Diamonds glitter. Next I poured in water, just about up to the top. I removed the sticky outer ring of the cup (hoping it would actually keep the water in, and hooray it did!!), and I stuck it onto a window sheet. I cut out the window sheet at the outside edge of the treat cup, than I stamped my trees (from Holiday Blitz) on white card stock. I placed my cup over the stamped images, and traced around the edge of the cup and cut it out…put a little adhesive on the edges and I was ready to go! Then I just created my card around it, using the new Petals-a-Plenty embossing folder, along with the Four Holidays set for the sentiment.

***added 12 hours after snowglobe was made – I deliberately left the cup resting on the window sheet side so the water would seep out if it was going to, and so far so good!! I'll update if that changes, but I think it worked!!***

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. This card is BEAUTIFUL!!! I love the ornament snowglobe combination. You do some of your best thinking and creating instead of sleeping!

  2. Great idea!! Isn’t it fun waking up and having an idea in your head! I agree with you about wanting to make it right then, because if you don’t, sometimes, you never do get to it. That is what happens to me, anyhow.

  3. That is absolutely fabulous Kerin! What a cool technique, it turned out sooooo pretty!
[p.s….I received my goodies from ya….awesome, thanks!]
    It’s good to be home!

  4. That’s brilliant! NOW, after seeing this, I’m going to have to put in yet another holiday mini order to get window sheets and cups! I was trying so hard not to do that… 🙂 Thanks for the inspiration!! Barb Conant, Topeka, KS

  5. I was wanting to do this, but hadn’t gotten around to it. Plus, I was worried the water would leak, but I’m glad to see it doesn’t! Now I will definitely going to try one. TFS.

  6. Do you think it would work with velum or just craft vinyl? I don’t have any stampin up windows. I just got started and made my first order.. I bought the 1 3/4 punch and the treat cups. I can’t wait to see if it keeps the water from leaking.
