Poinsettia Leaves

Wow, I can't believe how many emails I got last night about my poinsettia box…I'm so glad so many people liked it!! I have seen poinsettias all over the web, so I figured everyone had seen them or tried them before…I have no clue the different sites I saw them at, I just made my leaves from how the finished flowers  looked, so I can't really point you in the direction of instructions. But, if I'm stepping on anyone's toes, please let me know if you're the creator of this flower and I'm happy to give credit 🙂

I took a couple of quick pictures to show how I made the leaves, I used what used to be called the small oval punch, but now we have a large oval punch and a large oval punch…so I'm talking about the smallest one SU! offers, #43 on page 202/203. Of course you can use larger ovals too and just make bigger poinsettias, that's my next plan 🙂

First I punched a small oval, then drew lines in it with my bone folder like this (it doesn't need to be perfect lines, because lines on poinsettias aren't perfect):

Next I trimmed the ends to points:

Finally I sponged the edges. I used Cherry Cobbler card stock, so I wanted a darker shade on the edges and sponged with Bravo Burgundy:

A lot of people have asked for the box dimensions, and I will have to get back to that later since I need to go get ready for work, but I'll draw them up tonight!!

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. The box is just so beautiful, you are a genius to be able to use a tool we already have to create something new.
can’t wait to get the box deminsions and instructions.
    Thank you for sharing this.

  2. It looks like you haven’t had time to get home from work and play yet. I made my poinsettia flower today. I have been trying to make a box. I guess I just need to wait for you to post demensions and instructions.
I may order the die for the Halloween box that you have displayed below.
