Mosaic Technique

Yikes, sorry I've been so MIA this week! I've been stamping, I promise! I had my stamper's club Monday night, and a downline meeting Wednesday night to prepare for. At my downline meeting on Wednesday, one of the projects we made was this card using the mosaic technique. It's actually really simple, and every card can look different depending on how big your little pieces are and how far apart they're placed. I've seen this done with embossing powder inbetween the pieces, but here we used Dazzling Diamonds glitter.

Here are the steps to making the mosaic portion of the card:

  • Cut a strip of double-sided sticky paper (like Terrifically Tacky paper or similar) – mine was 1-3/4" x 5-1/2"
  • Cut a strip of Whisper White card stock the same size as the strip. The reason we did this was because the backing was the darker purple color, and I didn't want it to show through the mosaic part, so we adhered the strip of sticky stuff to the white.
  • Remove the backing off the sticky paper, and place your little cut up slips of designer paper or other material randomly.
  • Sprinkle Dazzling Diamonds and adhere it to your card…very simple huh?

We used the new Flower Power Card Elements shown on page 176 of the NEW Fall/Winter catalog, and Old Olive and More Mustard card stock. We also used the Wow Flowers stamp set. Notice that little bling in the center of the flower? We took the gem out of a rhinestone brad by pulling it apart and stuck it on with a glue dot.
