Gable Box

For today’s project I went back to the good old Pattern Library on the Stampin’ Up! demonstrator website. This is such a valuable resource, but I always forget to check it out when I’m looking for something fun to make!

I knew I was going to use the Tart & Tangy set, you know the one that I didn’t want when the mini came out…and now I can’t stop using??? So I went browsing the pattern library and came across #33 a gable box decorated with dinosaurs…I thought that the window in the front would make the box really cute if it had runts or skittles inside for the "fruitiness" to match the fruit stamp I was going to use.

A couple of things I’d think over if I were to make this again…and maybe a little advice if you’re going to give this a try…first of all, plan where your window will go! I planned for the wrong side and my seem is showing, not the end of the world but I would do it differently next time…and secondly, these boxes hold WAY more candy than you think they will! This little item has 4 mini bags of skittles and 4 mini bags of runts inside! That’s a lot of candy! I think next time I’ll try to reduce them on my printer and make miniature favor sized ones, how cute would that be?

  2. Kerin, this is adorable! What a fabulous idea for this set. I can’t get enough of it myself. Love your window, very creative. It looks great with those runts candies, I didn’t realize they still made those! 🙂
