Flourishes Get in Shape Challenge

The other day I read the most recent Flourishes blog challenge, and instantly knew I'd be playing along with this one! I'm a huge fan of 3d items, so when we were challenged to "Get in Shape" (meaning make a shaped card or 3-d item) my mind starting cooking up my entry. Thankfully it was a challeng to get in shape with paper crafts and not for real, since that would take waaayyy longer than an hour or two!

I recently ordered the Flourishes set called Pinwheels & Popsicles and I have to say I adore this set! So many images that are perfect for those happy occasions!

For my card I used the following supplies:

Stamps: Pinwheels & Popsicles (Flourishes)

Paper: Happy Day (My Mind's Eye), Melon Mambo (SU!), X-Press It Blending Card

Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento), Copics RV0000, RV02, RV06, RV09 (Ice Cream), E000, E00, E31, E33, E35 (Cone), R43, R46, R56, R59 (Cherry)

Accessories: Rhinestones colored with RV09 Copic (SU!), Punch (SU!), Seam Binding Ribbon Festve Fuschia (Flourishes), White Satin colored with RV09 Copic (SU!), Rhinestone Brads (SU!)

For the purse, I needed to make a firm outer portion, so I glued together (with my ATG gun) my designer paper, a piece of cardboard, and a piece of Melon Mambo CS, like a 3-layer sandwich, then ran it through my Big Shot with the Sizzix Circle die, just offset enough to give a flat bottom to my purse. I did the same for the back, then made a small 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" box for the middle. I wanted to use satin ribbon for the handles, but didn't have any to match the ribbon on my card, so I colored up some white satin ribbon with my RV09 Copic. Aren't Copics the best? I did the same thing for the rhinestones on my card. This would be a great size to toss in a little tissue paper and a gift card.

Thanks so much for stopping by 🙂
