Freshly Made Sketches #217

true-colors-wmHi stamping friends 🙂 The hustle and bustle of Christmas is over, and hubby is off to Vermont for a storm coming in tomorrow, so I’m spending a little time coloring and unwinding in my craft room. I hear this storm has really left its mark across the country, I hope you’re all safe & warm!

I’m a huge fan of holiday stamps, but I am loving the butterflies in the Sheena’s A Little Bit Sketchy – True Colors set. Yes, our first winter storm is upon us and I’m already ready to move on to butterflies and flowers.

For today’s card I’m playing along with the current sketch at Freshly Made Sketches:

The background of the butterfly is embossed with the Beautiful Brambles embossing folder, and the sentiment came from the Sheena’s A Little Bit Sketchy – The Butterfly Effect set.  The butterfly was colored with the following Spectrum Noir markers: FS8, OR2, OR3, DR1, LY1, then a little shimmer was added with the Spectrum Noir Clear Overlay Sparkle Pen:

Freshly Made Sketches #215

FMS215-kerin-sylvesterHi stamping friends 🙂 I’ve been able to spend the majority of the afternoon in my stamp room and I am one happy stamper right now! For this card I’m playing along with this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge:

FMS Final 215-001

For this card I used the I Knead You set from MFT Stamps along with the matching die cut. Surprisingly, the DSP on this card is from a holiday paper pad I got last year called Keepin’ Cozy from Echo Park Paper. I should know by now to keep my holiday papers out all year, there are so many universal patterns in those pads! I colored my kitten in Copics: N0, N2, N4 and the yarn in B41, B45.

Thanks so much for stopping by (again)!

Freshly Made Sketches #214

DSC_0082Hi stamping friends 🙂 For those of us in the US we’re wrapping up Thanksgiving week, and a busy one it’s been! I hope you had a wonderful holiday! I’m so happy to get some crafty time in to relax and rejuvenate before beginning another work week!

For today’s card I’m playing along with this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge:FMS Final 214-001I couldn’t resist using THIS cute little penguin again, this time with some snowballs. It was easy enough to remove his stick and marshmallows. I simply covered that portion of the stamp with a post-it note while inking up. Then I cut the matching diecut to fit the new shape. I colored the penguin in Copics: B21, B23, B66, N1, N2, N4, YR15, YR68, BG10.

Merry Monday and Freshly Made Sketches

jolly-hello-kerin-sylvesterHi stamping friends 🙂 Today I’ve created my first Christmas card of the year to go along with two fun challenges, Merry Monday and Freshly Made Sketches:

FMS Final 211-001178

I was so excited when I found some gold cardstock for the Merry Monday challenge to use Red & Gold! I used it for his mittens and the little heart on his hat, along with the circle beneath him. I paired it with the Christmas Cuteness set from My Favorite Stamps, which, YAY, has a matching die-namics set so no fussy cutting!

I colored Santa in with Copics in R14, R17, R29, R39, and added a little E40 to his beard and hair, along with a little R30 for some rosy cheeks. The snowflake embossing folder is from SU!, but apparently it’s retired.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you found a little time to get crafty this weekend!

Freshly Made Sketches #208

Hey stamping friends 🙂 How has your weekend been? Mine has been jam packed but with lots of fun things! It started Friday when I got some very exciting stamping news I hope to get to share with you soon!

Then yesterday I got to take pictures of my sister’s kids. She’s opting out of school pictures this year so we had a photo session of our own yesterday. I don’t know what school pictures cost where you live, but it was going to cost her about $60 per child and she has 3 children! Even better, with the foliage right now we got some pretty fabulous backgrounds (much better than the standard gray of school photos). I was thrilled that she was happy with them.

Today I hung out in my stamp room most of the day…mostly because it is freeeeezing outside (high of 45 degrees today)! I’ve made several cards already (mostly for upcoming design team/blog hop commitments), and I get to do lots more stamping tonight because the Patriots game starts at 8:30. Blech. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of the Patriots…if they’re in the Super Bowl, and winning (lol),  but a regular season game is not my idea of great Sunday night tv 😉 Instead I will keep my country music on and color the night away 🙂

For this card I’m playing along with this week’s challenge at Freshly Made Sketches:

FMS Final 208-001

I used this oldie but goody set from Flourishes called Garden Picks. I’ll say it again, I’m so sad they went out of business and I’m still holding out hope they’ll be back one day.  And of course I’m doing more coloring for Kathy’s 30 Day Coloring Challenge!

I colored it with the following Copics:

Jar: BG0000, BG000, BG01, BG10

Yellow Flower: Y11, Y15, Y23

Orange Flower: YR21, YR38, YR18

Red Flower: R30, R32, R37, R89

Leaves: YG61, YG52, YG67

The DSP is Hello Chevron from Carta Bella, and I used MFT Stamps Stitched Circle Stax Die-namics and Jumbo Fishtail Stax Die-namics.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you find time to get inky soon 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches #200

0819152Hey stampers! Wow it’s been a long while since I’ve stamped! We just returned from a two week camping trip. This weekend we’re off again, this time to Old Orchard Beach, Maine. But, summer will come to a close soon and the camping trips will be over 🙁

I’ve been watching the Freshly Made Sketches team for quite some time now, and their 200th sketch celebration is today! I actually found this sketch a little tricky for me since there isn’t much to it and I’m a big fan of layers, but I think it worked 😉 Here’s the sketch:FMS Final 200 Vers_2-001

I have been dying to get this little cutie inked up ever since THIS set came out! It’s called I Knead You…how cute is that?!? There are so many fun images in this set, and what’s better than matching die cuts to help cut down on the fussy cutting! I colored my little kitty with Copics in E31, E33, E35, E37. For the yarn I used B21, B23, B24.

Thanks for stopping by!

Freshly Made Sketches #174

Hey stampers! Today I'm playing along with the challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. Here's the sketch:

FMS Final 174-001

I'm still hooked on distress inks. I can't seem to get enough of them these days. This week I bought some masking fluid and a bunch of watercolor paper, so I have got my afternoon planned 🙂

My favorite thing about distress inks so far? You can't make the same design twice, each card is so unique! My least favorite thing? Tomorrow I will go to my office job with very inky fingers lol!

Anyway, for my card I used distress inks in Seedless PreservesSalty Ocean and Dusty Concord. I didn't have any black embossing powder, so I used Basic Black craft ink (Does SU! not carry craft ink anymore? I searched their site and no luck giving you a link) and clear embossing powder over. The sentiment came from the set Many Thanks.
